Troubleshooting - SQL Server Connection Error Instructions

  If you receive a connection error when attempting to login to SIMMS do the following:
 
  • Proceed to the Start -> Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager menu option.
  • Configuring Remote Access to SQL Server Express - click on SQL Server Network Configuration from the left menu then right click the TCP/IP Protocal on the right and select Enable
  • Click on SQL Server Services from the left menu then right click the SQL Server Browser on the right and select properties and click Start
  • Click on SQL Server Services from the left menu then right click the SQL Server (SIMMS) services on the right and select properties and change the built in account to Local System, click Apply and choose Yes when prompted to restart the service
  • Make sure your SQL Server Browser is on
  • Start SIMMS software and if you get the DBconnection error, click ok then click the db connection link
  • In the server name field enter in "(local)\SIMMS" as the computer name as per illustration below or you can replace (local) with your (computer name)
  • Note: By defult, username is "sa" and password "Allyoucaneat123!"
  • Click save and choose Yes when prompted create a new simms company.
